Jazz Combos
Jazz Combo participation, the core of the Jazz Studies curriculum, provides an opportunity for students to develop improvisational skills in a variety of styles including bebop, fusion and avant-garde, while offering a creative outlet for composers and arrangers.

Audition Information
Audition Information:
All students (including non–music majors) are welcome to audition for jazz ensembles and combos. However, only those who pass an ensemble placement audition are allowed to add the ensemble to their class schedule.
Auditions for all jazz ensembles and combos will be held during the first week of classes. The jazz faculty will audition bassists, pianists, guitarists and drummers individually and in groups. Once you have been placed in an ensemble, we will get you an override to add the class or ensemble.
Audition Dates
Rhythm Section: Thursday, August 16, 2018 (5 - 7 p.m.)

Audition material: Sight Reading, Prepared Jazz Excerpt (optional), Improvisation (optional)
Woodwinds and Brass: Friday, August 17 (10 a.m. - 5 p.m.) and Monday, August 20, 2018 (12 p.m.. - 5 p.m).

Concert Jazz Band: 3:15 - 4:45 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday
Jazz Repertory Band: 1:15 - 2:45 p.m., Monday and Wednesday
Latin Jazz Band: 3:05 - 4:45 p.m., Monday
