The School of Music in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University seeks two exceptional artist-scholars in the area of music composition. One position is for a full-time tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor level, and the second position is for a full-time tenure-track appointment at the assistant or associate professor level, rank depending on experience. Both positions begin fall 2019.
The School of Music seeks applicants who would contribute a unique voice to the composition program and provide excellent teaching to the composition and theory areas. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue and maintain a high level of creative research, teach composition and composition-related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, teach classes in music theory including those in the core curriculum, collaborate with faculty colleagues in recruiting students and in the development of curricular initiatives, and engage in university, community and professional services. The program promotes a collegial atmosphere where all styles and techniques are welcome. Students study with all members of the composition faculty in order to engage with a range of different philosophies.
