The School of Music in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University seeks an exceptional artist-teacher of percussion for a full-time tenure-track appointment at the assistant or associate professor level, rank based on experience, beginning fall 2020.
The successful candidate is expected to pursue a continued professional career and actively participate in performances in the School of Music. In addition, the candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching with the ability to instruct at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels. Further responsibilities include recruiting high-quality students regionally, nationally and internationally, mentoring and assisting students in developing their professional goals, supervising graduate teaching assistants, and working effectively with faculty colleagues and administration in service to satisfy and advance the mission of the ASU School of Music. Other duties include conducting the contemporary percussion ensemble, teaching percussion-related courses such as percussion repertoire and percussion pedagogy, and maintaining the percussion instrument inventory. We seek an innovative individual who will participate in and further our effort to reimagine what arts education means in the 21st century.
