The School of Music in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University seeks a colleague to help us broaden the ways people conceptualize music learning and teaching and expand where and how music education occurs throughout contemporary society. This is a full-time tenure-track appointment at the assistant/associate professor level, depending on experience, beginning fall 2019.
We are looking for someone who will collaborate with us, work in solidarity with our community and think deeply and expansively. We are looking for someone who imagines possibilities and embraces playful thinking. The successful candidate will help us grow the diversity of students entering our programs, help us expand the multiple pathways that students move through and beyond our programs, support the best of what occurs throughout music education and build alternatives to the status quo. Our new colleague will continue their own research and creative work, teach and contribute to our learning community, serve with others to forward aspirational goals and collaborate with us and others to build and foster vibrant musical ecologies. Together, we will support our current students, partners, alumni and others to have a tangible positive impact in their communities.
