The School of Music in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University seeks an exceptional tenor artist/teacher for a full-time tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor level beginning fall 2020.
This Assistant Professor of Voice position will strengthen the broader vision of the School of Music: to create an environment that enriches and enlivens the role of music in our society. The quality and comprehensiveness of our program is demonstrated by our many graduates who are successful performers, music therapists and teachers regionally, nationally and internationally.
The successful candidate is expected to pursue a continued professional career and actively participate in performances at the school. In addition, the candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching with the ability to instruct at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in the musical theatre and classical styles. Further responsibilities will include recruiting high-quality students regionally, nationally and internationally, mentoring and assisting students in developing their professional goals and working effectively with faculty colleagues and administration in service to satisfy and advance the mission of the ASU School of Music. Other duties may include teaching voice-related courses such as vocal repertoire, vocal pedagogy or lyric diction classes, or involvement with ensemble performances, musical theatre and opera productions and collaborations. We seek an innovative individual who will participate in and further our effort to reimagine what arts education means in the 21st century.
