Undergraduate Audition Materials and Requirements: Keyboard Organ

Prospective organists should contact Kimberly Marshall directly to set up an audition, as the Organ Hall is used for meetings on the scheduled audition days and cannot accommodate organist applicants.

Taped auditions are considered, but a live audition is required to qualify for scholarships.

  • Sight-reading of a hymn or four-part chorale.
  • One prelude and fugue from Bach's Eight Little Preludes and Fugues.
  • Two chorale preludes from Bach's Orgelbüchlein.
  • One romantic or modern work of your choice. This work may be appropriate for a church service.

Undergraduate Non-Performance Majors (MUP 111: music education, therapy, theory, composition, jazz performance, Bachelor of Arts)

  • Scales. All major and harmonic minor scales in four octaves in sixteenth-notes at a quarter note = 92 at the piano.

    • 11 Chorale Preludes, Brahms
    • 24 Pieces in Free Style, Vierne
