Guitar Ensemble

The ASU Guitar Ensemble is a flexible ensemble of classical, acoustic and electric guitars often featuring music by living composers. Instrumental forces include duets through octets and large orchestras of guitars with a conductor, and small chamber groups with wind, brass, percussion, voice, strings and electronics. Repertoire spans 500 years, incorporating a balanced diet of standard works and individualized programs of study designed to best develop musicianship, technique and artistry. The ensemble regularly invites guest clinicians such as composers, conductors, and performers for master-classes, coaching, lectures and workshops; collaborating to produce diverse performances of masterpieces with newly discovered and composed music in an array of venues throughout the community.

The ASU Guitar Ensemble is open to both non-music majors and the community for credit or audit. Audition may be required. All instruments are welcome. Please contact Professor Frank Koonce at for more information on the ensemble and guitar program at Arizona State University.
