Brazilian Bateria

ASU students and community members are invited to join ASU’s Brazilian Bateria offered through the ASU Herberger College at Large. This is a performance-based class sponsored by the ASU Herberger College School of Music percussion area in which you learn to play numerous Brazilian percussion instruments and a variety of musical styles, including Rio-style samba (samba batucada), samba reggae, carnaval marches and other rhythms. You also learn where the rhythms originated and the cultural history behind them. No previous experience required and instruments are provided. Each course lasts 10 weeks.
