Faculty Feats

Faculty Feats are a great resource for everyone to quickly discover what is happening with individual Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts faculty members.

Michael Kocour, Associate Professor, Music

Michael Kocour, the director of Jazz studies in the ASU Herberger College School of Music is featured this month on National Public Radio’s award winning, internationally syndicated program, "Piano Jazz." The program is a forum for jazz legends and influential performers as well as up-and-coming talents.

Listeners can hear Kocour discuss the transition from gigging to teaching. He also plays the duets, "Ask Me Now" and "I Should Care" with legendary pianist and "Piano Jazz" host, Marian McPartland. Kocour is hailed by the Chicago Tribune as “One of the most sophisticated pianists in jazz.”

The program is broadcast on KJZZ 91.5 FM at 9 p.m., Nov. 17, 2007. The online podcast is Nov. 16-22, 2007 and available at: pianojazz.org
