Walter Cosand, Professor, Music

Walter Cosand is a music professor and the Keyboard area coordinator in the ASU Herberger College School of Music. During early May, he served as Profesor Visitante de la Carrera de Musica at the invitation of the Department of the Arts of the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras (UNAH). UNAH is a school in the capital city of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, which enrolls 83,000 students. Cosand taught piano students at the university and at the Conservatorio Nacional "Francisco" Diaz Zelaya. He also presented public solo recitals at the Museo del Hombre Hondureno and at the Escuela Nacional de Musica.

A recent UNAH announcement stated: “The series ‘Thursday in Art’ continues full speed ahead! Last Thursday we had the honor of the presence of the Invited Professor and international pianist Walter Cosand, with two most beautiful concerts
that received the ovations of the public audience!”

Walter Cosand is a music professor and the Keyboard area coordinator in the ASU Herberger College School of Music. He was the honored guest of the Piano Teachers Association of Dalian, China during the first week in October. As the first artist of the Dalian Steinway Festival, he presented a solo recital of 24 Chopin Etudes on Sept. 30 to a responsive audience in an auditorium in Dalian. The next day he participated as a judge for the Second Dalian Piano Competition, held in the Richard Piano Centre. Including Cosand, the panel of judges included, distinguished piano pedagogues from Beijing, Odessa, Seoul, Shanghai, Taichung and Vladivostok. Dalian is the fourth largest city in China with a population of nearly six million. Cosand's recital was the first complete performance of the 24 Chopin Etudes there.
