Timothy McAllister, Associate Professor, Music

2008-10-10
Timothy McAllister is an associate saxophone professor in the ASU Herberger College School of Music. He recently performed at the Second London Festival of American Music, sponsored by the Lontano Ensemble, Odaline de la Martinez, artistic director, and the BBC. The Oct. 4–13 festival celebrated the 70th birthday of American composer John Harbison, MacArthur fellow, MIT distinguished professor and Pulitzer Prize winner.

McAllister was invited to present a full-evening recital at The Warehouse on London's South Bank, with acclaimed British pianist Andrew Zolinsky featuring important American works for saxophone and piano by esteemed composers John Adams, Daniel Asia, Kati Agócs, Milton Babbitt, Roshanne Etezady, Steven Stucky and John Harbison. In addition, he coached and worked with saxophone students from London's Royal College of Music.

Prior to his London appearance, McAllister completed a new CD recording for New Dynamic Records with the renowned PRISM Saxophone Quartet. The album, which is scheduled for a spring 2009 release, features major new works by composers Kati Agócs, Zack Browning, Roshanne Etezady, Ross Feller, Kristin Kuster and Rand Steiger.
