Jill Sullivan, Associate Professor, Music

Jill Sullivan is an assistant professor in instrumental music education in the ASU Herberger College of the Arts. She serves as the National Chair for CMENC (Collegiate Music Educators National Conference), which is part of the National Association of Music Education. In this capacity, she presented a Webinar lecture with two other distinguished music educators; a past president of MENC and Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, to an audience of 887 collegiate music education students and faculty from 67 different college campuses. The topic of the Webinar was: A Crash Course: How and Why Advocacy is Critical for Future Teachers.

Jill Sullivan is an associate professor of Music education in the ASU Herberger College of the Arts. Her article, “A Century of Women’s Bands in America” will run in the September 2008 edition the Music Educators Journal. The publisher of the journal, MENC: The National Association for Music Education, recently sent out an e-mail to its 130,000 members highlighting the article Women's Bands Paved the Way for Today's Musicians

This is the seventh article that Sullivan has written from her historical research on women’s bands. Other articles have been published in American Music, Contributions to Music Education, Journal of Band Research, Journal of Historical Research in Music Education (in press), and the Journal of Music Therapy.
