Faculty Feats

Faculty Feats are a great resource for everyone to quickly discover what is happening with individual Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts faculty members.

Katherine McLin, Associate Professor, Music

2006-11-30
Six music faculty combined their artistry to make first recordings of six new pieces on the recently released CD, Discovery on Summit Records.

The six new works were written for hornist and Professor Emeritus Thomas Bacon, executive producer, and pianist and Regents Professor, Caio Pagano. Additional School of Music faculty involved in the recording project include: Associate Professor Katherine McLin, violin; Professor James DeMars, composer; Professor Samuel Pilafian, recording producer; and Faculty Associate Clarke Rigsby, recording engineer.

The music was recorded in Katzin Concert Hall in the School of Music building on the ASU Tempe campus.

Discovery is derived from a major work on the disc, Trio "a carta de Pero Vaz de Caminha." Almeida Prado wrote Trio in 2000 to pay homage to the 500th anniversary of the discovery of Brazil by the Portuguese.
