ASU Piano Prep/Conservatory Program celebrates its 22nd year
Enroll now for 2009-10

Who
The ASU Piano Prep/Conservatory Program.

What
The ASU Piano Prep/Conservatory Program invites new students to enroll for 2009–10. Interviews are held for beginners and for students with prior piano study, ages 7–17. The program offers appointments for advanced students as requested.

Since its inception in 1988, the Piano Preparatory/Conservatory Program at ASU’s Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts has provided students with opportunities for excellent music instruction from experienced model teachers and selected ASU performance-pedagogy graduate students. The highly successful program is known throughout the Valley for its creative approach to piano study for children. Jan Thompson, founding director and professor of music cites the combination of group and individual lessons as one of the keys to the program’s success. Thompson coordinates the program, linking teachers and preparatory students with university piano pedagogy courses and observers in a laboratory-school setting. The program offers quality music instruction in a creative and motivating learning environment.

Piano Prep/Conservatory students enjoy a well-planned and varied curriculum emphasizing the development of musicianship skills through piano study, performance and participation in the National Music Certificate Program; the highly successful curriculum of the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto. School of Music piano studios, digital piano labs and recital halls provide the finest facilities for instruction and performance.
