Contemporary Music Series

Percussion

The Contemporary Music Series in the ASU School of Music aims to present the highest quality performances of experimental music in the Phoenix metropolitan area, putting on festivals of themed concerts and showcasing music that is rarely performed. We promote the view that classical music is a living tradition – an exciting and vibrant part of modern life – and we want to pass on that belief by combining performances with informative lectures and discussions for the general public.

The series featured the music of Karlheinz Stockhausen in 2009, and Iannis Xenakis in 2011. In April 2012 we will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the pioneering American composer, John Cage, with a series of concerts, lectures, masterclasses, and other happenings.
