We are pleased to present the second edition of the new School of Music newsletter e-Notes. The faculty and students of the School of Music have been very active this fall and the articles here tell of some of their accomplishments. We have entered into an exciting relationship with trumpeter Doc Severinsen and he will be presenting a concert along with our top ensembles in January to benefit our scholarship program. Funding of financial aid packages for our talented students continues to be our biggest challenge and I urge you to help us through joining the Friends of Music or contributing to one of over 50 talent-based scholarships in the School of Music. As we compete for students with the finest music schools in the nation this external support of students becomes increasingly important to the health of the School of Music.
The School of Music has welcomed six new faculty members to campus this fall and you can read of their training and experience in this newsletter. We are confidant that they will contribute very positively to the school. And, we are in the midst of four searches for new faculty who will begin their work Fall 2002. These new faces bring an invigorated spirit to the school.
We hope that you will be able to join us for some of our concerts this spring semester and experience firsthand the excellence of the program. Enjoy the newsletter!
