Greetings from
the School of Music!

Wayne Bailey
Wayne Bailey, Director
School of Music

Welcome to the first issue of the new on-line School of Music newsletter e-Notes.

As I finish my first year as director I look back on a very busy year! We have given over 660 concerts and events since our season began in August. Our faculty presented or performed in 18 different countries this year and 39 different states. They published two new books, 20 journal articles, 26 new recordings and 11 new compositions. A very busy year!

I hope you can tell from this newsletter that we think the School of Music has never been in better shape. We currently enroll over 740 music majors, and our graduates are doing very well in musical theatre companies, university teaching positions, as music therapists, in symphony orchestras, public schools and a number of other musical professions. You can see from the articles here that there has been a good deal of change in the school this year with several faculty retirements and two new associate directors. We have done a good deal of work on our brochures and web pages and I hope you can visit our new web site.

Alumni and friends continue to help support our students and I appeal to you to join the Friends of Music in this laudable effort. Please help us help these talented young musicians. I hope to see you at one or more of our events next season.

Wayne Bailey
Director
