| Bio: Dr. Bush has been the Associate Director for Academic Affairs in the Herberger College School of Music since 2007. Additionally, he is an Associate Professor of Music Education, having taught coursework in bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs at ASU. His interests include middle/high school general music, community music, arts leadership, and music education curriculum. Dr. Bush holds B. Mus. Ed. and M.M. degrees from Northern Illinois University and a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. Jeff previously taught at the University of Regina and in the public schools of Saskatchewan, Canada. Also well known as a percussionist, Dr. Bush performed regularly with professional orchestras and touring musicals throughout western Canada and continues to free-lance in the Phoenix area. Cited in Marquis Who?s Who in America, Jeff is active as a clinician/workshop presenter and is a frequent speaker at many national and international conferences including: the International Society for Music Educators, the Music Educators National Conference In-Service Conference, the National Symposium for Music Instruction Technology, the National Orff-Schulwerk Association National Conference, the Greek Society for Music Education, and the International Music Education Research Symposium. His publication credits include Contributions to Music Education, Arts Education Policy Review, General Music Today, Journal of Technology in Music Education, Music Educators Journal, Ostinato, and Percussive Notes. Dr. Bush has been a contributing editor for the series Making Music and is currently a member of the editorial committee of General Music Today. At the state level, Jeff has held numerous positions with the Arizona Music Educators Association and is currently immediate president of that organization; he is also an elected member of the Executive Committee of the Arizona Alliance for Arts Education. Nationally, Jeff has served on the executive committees of the National Association of Music Educators (MENC) Society for Music Teacher Education, the MENC Adult and Community Music Education Special Research Interest Group and numerous other MENC committees. Jeff was recently elected President-Elect of the western division of MENC; his presidency will begin in 2010. |
