| Bio: Michael Wilkinson moved to Phoenix in June of 2007 to pursue a Masters degree in trombone performance at ASU. Before moving to Phoenix, Mike was heavily involved in the Tucson music scene, having moved there in 1995 to study trombone with Tom Ervin at the U of A. In 1996, he was a member of the Disney/Grammy All-American College Jazz Band at EPCOT Center. In Tucson, he was the musical director and lead trombonist for Descarga (a local salsa band) for 9 years, as well as the trombonist for Salsarengue. He also played bass trombone in the Tucson Jazz Orchestra and has performed with numerous other ensembles and shows. One of his biggest accomplishments was teaching middle school band for 8 1/2 years, building the music program up to be one of the best in TUSD. |
