ASU Chamber Players The ASU Chamber Players is an ensemble specifically designed to meet the needs of the Herberger Institute School of Music’s most mature students. This is a musical consort for advanced musicians who are interested in a combination of guided and independent ensemble experiences. To promote a range of musical possibilities, the core instrumentation includes a string quintet, pairs of winds/brass/percussion and piano, but is open, by audition, to all qualified musicians, regardless of instrument. In addition to faculty-conceived and led performances comprising a widely varied and challenging repertoire, ensemble members are expected to develop musical entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurial explorations may encompass, but not be limited to: the formation of independent chamber ensembles; performances at non-traditional venues or as a part of community arts programs and other community engagement projects; collaborations with composers; and educational outreach. Rehearsals are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:40-2:30 p.m. The Chamber Players is only open to School of Music students of the highest caliber, and students must audition prior to becoming a member. Auditions are held the first week of school, every fall.
