Composition: In order to be considered for an interview, the composition program requires the submission of a prescreening portfolio of three to five of the applicant's strongest compositions demonstrating technical facility in a variety of genres. Materials must be uploaded to SlideRoom and should include scores and may also include recordings. Applications received without a prescreening portfolio uploaded to SlideRoom will be considered incomplete, and the applicant will not be considered for an invitation to interview. Undergraduate applicants invited for an interview must also perform an audition to be considered for admission.
Interdisciplinary Digital Media & Performance: Please upload a portfolio of 3-5 original works showing technical facility in composition and presenting evidence of accomplishments as a composer. Material may include scores in PDF, recordings of performances, and audio and/or video, depending on the media involved. Recent works are preferred. Materials must be uploaded to SlideRoom.
In order to be considered for a live, in-person audition, applicants for all conducting concentrations must submit a prescreening video recording (in flv, wmv, or mov format). All prescreening materials must be uploaded to SlideRoom by the deadlines above.
Prescreening recordings must be in video and are only accepted via SlideRoom.
DVD/CD submissions received are neither reviewed nor acted upon.
Applications received without a prescreening video recording uploaded to SlideRoom will be considered incomplete, and the applicant will not be considered for an invitation to a live audition. Prescreening requirements are as follows:
Choral
A 10-minute video that shows you conducting in rehearsal. The camera should be placed from the point-of-view of the singers (not behind you), and all instructions to the choir should be clearly audible and understandable. An additional video from a performance is acceptable, but not required.
Opera
A video containing examples of your conducting either with orchestra and/or in a theatrical setting (opera, musicals, ballet). Examples drawn from orchestral concerts should be from contrasting stylistic periods. Examples of theatrical performances should show the applicant as conductor, rather than showing the stage.
Orchestra

Applicants to the following majors are required to upload a SlideRoom prescreening video recording of the audition materials listed below with their application by the deadlines listed above. Memorization and piano accompaniment is strongly recommended for the video prescreening and is required for live auditions.
BA Music: Voice
Two classical songs in varying styles or tempi. At least one piece should be in a foreign language. The second selection may be an American or English art song, or a song in a different foreign language.
BM Performance: Voice
Two classical songs in varying styles or tempi. At least one piece should be in a foreign language. The second selection may be an American or English art song, or a song in a different foreign language.
BM Music Theatre
One classical selection, one musical theater selection, and one monologue. The classical selection (e.g., an art song or an aria from opera or oratorio) may be in English or in a foreign language. The Broadway number, either ballad or upbeat, should be from a legitimate musical theatre production—no standards or pop repertoire. The monologue from a musical or play must not exceed two minutes in length.
BM Music Education: Choral – General
